Spin Guide Application

Are you a spin instructor who’s passionate about creating an immersive experience for Spinners? Spin For Life may be the perfect fit.

We’re looking for eight Spin Guides who can work collaboratively with us to fashion eight unique, active, and fun hours. The ideal applicants are open to weaving theatrical elements into their Spin sessions and working with a wide range of music options.

  • Applications for SPIN Day 2020 on November 21, 2020, will stay open until October 25, 2020 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time.

  • The motivator positions are only open to people 18 years of age and older.
  • This is a paid position with Spin For Life. There are several conditions that you must agree to before taking the position. They are:

    1. Spin For Life ‘Spin Guides’ do more than instruct during their hours – they are the hour’s emcees, hosts, and motivators. Guides will introduce event segments, other presenters, sponsors, partners, cancer survivors, and more — all from the bike. Spin For Life and RocketHouse Productions will train our chosen Guides on exactly what to do.
    2. Preparatory work will take place remotely — you can be anywhere in the world, connected with our producers by video call. If you happen to be in Calgary, Canada, some rehearsal work may take place in person (RocketHouse and Spin For Life are Calgary-based). Dress Rehearsal (Nov. 20) and Spin Day 2020 (Nov. 21) will both take place in Burnaby, BC, Canada. Appropriate travel will be arranged for selected candidates.
    3. You must be available for the Spin For Life event day on November 21, 2020 and a dress rehearsal day on November 20, 2020.
    4. You must be available for up to three (3) video call rehearsal dates in the weeks leading up to the event day.
    5. You’ll be consulting with Spin For Life on music selections, but final decisions are solely at the discretion of Spin For Life in order to maintain the theme of each hour.
    6. Spin Guides will also consult with Spin For Life regarding the athletic components of their hours. There are a wide range of skill levels that Spin For Life wishes to appeal to.
    7. During the event, all lights, sound, music, microphones, and video projections are controlled by Spin For Life and Peak Technologies crew members.
    8. Spin Guides are provided with onstage video monitors to help them cue through their hours.
    9. Preference will be given to “community champions” who are willing to use their influence to help grow Spin For Life to the benefit of the Canadian Cancer Society.
  • Ex. English, French, Cantonese, Cree, Spanish, Tagalog, German, etc.
  • Tell us about any other relevant training experiences you may have. Dance, skiing, swimming, outdoor cycling, personal training, etc.?
  • If you have a personal connection with cancer that’s encouraging you to make this application and are willing to share it, let us know below. As a reminder, Spin For Life benefits the Canadian Cancer Society.
  • Let us know what it is like to be in a spin class with you. Lots of choreography, lots of time out of the saddle, high BPM/RPM, training for outdoor riding, etc.?
  • While Spin For Life has the final say on the music used during the event day, let us know about your current style. Do you mix it yourself, type of music played most often, do participants seek out your tracks, etc.?
  • Tell us a bit about your travel experiences or living abroad.
  • Feel free to share anything you think that might be relevant.
  • Which spin studio(s) do you currently instruct at? Additionally, where have you motivated in the past? (Please list years as well.)
