How to Qualify

PLEASE NOTE: Spin For Life’s main SPIN Day event has been postponed due to increased COVID-19 safety regulations across Canada. The AirSprint draw will take place during the rescheduled event. This date is yet to be determined. In the meantime, keep fundraising!

The AirSprint Prize Draw will take place during SPIN Day’s Closing Ceremony (8 – 8:30 PM MST).

A single Spinner name will be randomly selected as the winner.

The draw will be made from the Top 25 Individual Fundraisers.

Please note: Spin For Life’s fundraising statistics are updated each day at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. To have the best chance at qualifying as one of the Top 25 Individual Fundraisers (who are included in the draw) ensure all of your online donations are made by 11:59 PM MT the day before SPIN Day. Please ensure all of your offline donations are submitted to your nearest Canadian Cancer Society office as far in advance as possible as these can take upwards of a week of processing time, especially if you plan to mail them in.

Must be 18 years of age or older with Canadian citizenship to be entered.

AirSprint: Supporting Every Kilometre of our Journey

AirSprint Private Aviation has been integral to the development and success of Spin For Life since before this cancer fundraiser was more than idea.

AirSprint signed on as a Founding Sponsor back in December 2018 and had previously sat with Spin’s creators fleshing out the concept in February of that year.

When Spin For Life officially launched, AirSprint had expanded its sponsorship to be the host of the inaugural event by clearing out its Calgary airplane hangar to host the hundreds of participants, reams of audio-visual technology, and all of the event day celebrations.

As Spin For Life has adapted to the realities of COVID-19, AirSprint has supported in every way they can. No longer needing the large in-person venue, AirSprint has put money forward for translating Spin For Life’s website and SPIN Day content so that our event can capture participation from all across Canada, especially the committed francophone cancer community in Quebec.

AirSprint has further increased their sponsorship and is now the Continent Sponsor of Spin Hour #1 – Our Journey Across Canada!

Thank you, AirSprint. The building of your own team, the motivation you do to encourage donations, and all of the support you keep showing to Spin For Life and the Canadian Cancer Society are making this journey possible.

Spin For Life values inclusion and removing barriers to entry for participation; any skill level, beginner to pro, is encouraged to join. There’s no need for any special equipment or gear – alongside 180 spin bikes, Spin For Life is equipped with low-impact floor and arm pedal machines. Spinners are in a controlled indoor environment where the risk is low, medical support is always close-at-hand, and the weather won’t affect the experience. Our participants’ physical and fundraising commitments are also designed to be manageable challenges: one hour of sweat with a minimum $1,000 raised for charity.

Thanks to our growing list of like-minded sponsors and patrons, 100% of donations stay with the Canadian Cancer Society. With each event, Spin For Life aims to raise a minimum of $1.44 million with new host cities being added every year for a ten year goal of $180 million. Tax receiptable donations can be allocated to any of three categories: Clinical Trials, Wheels of Hope, or the Alberta Cancer Research Fund (which was specially created to be funded by Spin For Life). Even in our first year, we are aiming to break the World Record for most money raised with a static cycling event.

Over the course of eight hours, our Spinners will collectively ride the circumference of the world: 40,075 km. Each hour is themed around distinct global landscapes with LED screens, theatre lighting, and mapped projections transporting participants through a beautiful, challenging, and cathartic experience. Emcees and Instructors will lead the music-filled Spin Hours, introducing stories of cancer heroes, researchers, clinicians, and remembrances of those we have lost. All culminating in a world record ceremony and on-site after party when we finish spinning around the globe!
